Elder Care Ministry
Keeping our elderly parishioners connected to parish life through visits and remembering them on their birthday and church holidays.
Resurrection Elder Care Ministry is a pastoral ministry that serves to keep older adult parishioners at Resurrection connected with their Catholic faith and parish in several ways. Although you may not be in need of some of the offerings at this time, we want you to know we are here for you should the need arise for you or a loved one.
Ministry members send birthday, get well, and holiday greeting cards to older adults who are registered parishioners at Church of the Resurrection. We also use these greetings to announce special events, hosted by Resurrection Elder Care Ministry, throughout the year. The greetings often include well wishes and art work from the children of Resurrection as they learn about caring for others through their Catholic faith.Events or talks hosted by Resurrection Elder Care Ministry 2-3 times per year often feature a topic of interest related to aging and an opportunity to learn about community organizations that provide information on keeping older adults healthy and living independently.
Resurrection Elder Care Ministry provides friendly visits, upon request, to the homebound and to those parishioners now living in a nursing care residence. Those volunteers trained as Eucharistic Ministers may also provide Communion at home if you are not able to attend Mass on Sundays due to health reasons. If you or a loved one are homebound and would like to schedule a friendly visit from a ministry team member or homebound Communion, please contact the church office at 507-288-5528. Also Resurrection Elder Care Ministry does not provide Respite Care or help with home chores, additional Community Health and Resource information is provided to those seeking assistance. Please call the church office at 507-288-5528 for Community Resource Information on Respite Care, Transportation, Home Health Care information and more. Resurrection Elder Care Ministry hosts a ‘Donut Thursday’ on the first Thursday of each month, after the 8:30 a.m. Mass. Please stop by for coffee and a donut, and to visit with friends! Also, be sure to watch the church bulletin for upcoming events!
