Why should Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament never be left alone?
Christ is present for us-body, blood, soul and divinity-through the miracle of the Holy Eucharist. He should never be abandoned as he was in the Garden of Gethsemane by the twelve apostles, (MT 26:56)
What if I cannot make my regularly scheduled Holy Hour?
Use the WeAdoreHim system to request a substitute or call your Division Coordinator
What if I need to cancel at the last minute because of an emergency?
Call the adorer who shares your hour with you to make sure they will be there. If you are the sole adorer for that hour, then call your division coordinator.
If I sign up for a weekly hour, will anyone be able to substitute for me?
Yes, there is a list of substitute adorers to cover your scheduled hour use the WeAdoreHim system
How will the Perpetual Adoration Team know if an adorer shows up or not?
Just outside Fr Winkels Chapel see if the Adorers name was checked on the iPad
It’s OK to arrive late or leave early because someone else will always be there, right?
Never assume that someone will always be there. If you are running late, please call your Division Coordinator If you must leave early then ask an adorer present if they will remain for the rest of the hour.
There is always someone adoring Jesus which means I do not always have to show up, do I?
Never assume that someone will always be there. There have been times when a scheduled adorer assumes this, not realizing the other adorer has cancelled. Please avoid this situation by always calling the adorer who shares your hour with you and inform them.
I don’t feel well and there is a visitor in the chapel with me, is it OK to leave?
Ask the visitor if they can stay. If the answer is no, cover Jesus (the Monstrance). If you need to leave after the church doors are locked, proceed to the main church doors and place the door lock in the OFF position. (Looking at the doors from inside the church, the lock switch is located at the left side of the door at the very top, toggle switch. If a step stool is needed, one is available by the Adoration cabinet.)
It is 5 after and the scheduled adorer for the following hour has not arrived yet. What do I do?
If you can stay, please do. If you must go, repose Jesus with the cloth cover in the small wall cabinet to the left of the exit door of the chapel. Nighttime adorers please place the main church door lock in the OFF position upon leaving.
The scheduled adorer for the following hour is always late, what can I do?
You may leave them a polite message or you can call your Division Coordinator.
I need to permanently cancel my Holy Hour. How do I go about doing this?
Your Division Coordinator reasonable notice but before you do, please consider a different hour as the need is great!
How many scheduled adorers are needed for each hour?
The USCCB mandates that two adorers be scheduled for each hour. However, having three scheduled adorers is ideal in that if an adorer requests a substitute there will still be two adorers present.
I was under the impression that any hour I sign up for is helpful. Is that true?
There are hours that are MOST NEEDED and if you are willing, choose an hour that does not already have an adorer. However, any hour that does not have two adorers is needed time.
How do I enter into the Adoration chapel after the church is locked?
Resurrections main church doors are locked at 7pm and reopen at 7am. To enter after the church has been locked, come to the main entrance, through the first doors and ring the doorbell on the left side of the second main doors. If there is an adorer, they will come and open the door for you.
If the church is locked and no one comes to open the door after I have rung the bell, what do I do?
Call Father Schuster at 288-5528, after the message, dial 125#. If Father does not answer leave a message and he will call you back.
Do I have to be Catholic to visit the chapel or to sign up as an adorer?
No, Jesus is present in the Blessed Sacrament for anyone.
How do I know if Adoration is closed due to weather?
The decision to close adoration due to weather is a team effort. The division coordinators will contact the adorers. We attempt to have the closing notice on KTTC TV community announcements and the parish website: www.rescathroch.org. If you have questions, call your division coordinator. You will get a notification (phone call; text; or email)
What do I do if I am adoring and there is an emergency at Resurrection?
In the unlikely event of an emergency, you do not need to repose Jesus. As you leave through the main doors of the church, make sure the door is locked (ON) and proceed to the Rectory to let a priest know what is happening. If you need to, call 911.
What do I do during my hour of adoration?
We ask that you dress appropriately. The hour you spend with Jesus is up to you. You may bring prayer books, read the Bible, pray the Rosary, read a book from our adoration library or just relax and enjoy the peace that comes from being in His presence. In most cases people are silent. However, there are times for reading out loud or singing. For example, Tuesday Night Holy Hour, 6-7pm, Youth groups, families. Please be respectful of others who may be visiting or wish to be silent.
