Learning Centers Grades 1-5

Pray, Fast, Give, Rejoice Learning Centers for grades 1-5 and their families took place on Monday, February 27th. Families came together to learn about the Lenten practices of praying, fasting and almsgiving. Then, they entered into Holy Week and discovered the sacredness of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil. Finally, the REJOICE room was a favorite because we celebrated that Jesus Christ has Risen! We saw many smiles as the children found Easter eggs with a cross pendant inside, a recipe for Easter cookies, and a jelly bean prayer with a special treat to take home. We learned about ashes, fasting opportunities, washing feet, almsgiving, veneration of the cross, and Mother Teresa’s “You Did It To Me.” Children loved choosing their own stone to write on- this symbolized the large stone that was rolled away from Jesus’ tomb. Every family was able to take home a family prayer booklet based on Mother Teresa’s life, prayers, almsgiving ideas, a Stations of the Cross booklet, a cross, a stone, an egg, and some jelly beans.
